About meI'm an amateur photographer based near Portsmouth, United Kingdom, and love photographing wildlife, nature and landscapes. When I was little I was interested in nature but later on I got interested in other things instead. I have now rediscovered this passion through photography. Getting the shot of an animal used to be the most important thing to me, but now I'm equally pleased if I can get a close view of a creature and then back off without disturbing it (though a good photo is definitely a bonus!).
There are lots of excellent wildlife photographers around today, both amateurs and professionals. I have not created this website out of a sense of my own skill/importance, but because I spend so much time on wildlife photography and I want a means of recording and explaining what I do and what I see! I also find having to explain my photography on this website a useful way of reflecting on what works - or does not - and how I can improve. My published photographs and competition successes include: + Four photos included in Hampshire Wildlife Trust calendar 2015. + One photo Highly Commended in British Wildlife Photography Awards 2014 (Wild Woods category) and included in the BWPA exhibition and book. A second photo also included in the BWPA book only (same category). + Winner, 'Large mammals' category, Hampshire Wildlife Trust 2013 Photography Competition + Winner, 'Man and Nature' category, Hampshire Wildlife Trust 2012 Photography Competition + Photographs published in Outdoor Photography magazine and BBC Wildlife magazine, 2012-2013 + British Deer Society Photographer of the Year 2011/2012 + A runner-up in the 2011 Sussex Wildlife Trust Photography Competition + 2nd place in the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC UK)'s 2011 Autumn Photography Competition Equipment and image processingI use a Nikon D7000 digital SLR camera body, and Nikon and Sigma lenses. I process my photographs on the computer using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom software, normally only making minimal adjustments so that the finished image closely resembles the actual scene as I witnessed it.
